Iconic restoration of a historic gem

An exceptional venue reinvented for contemporary hospitality

In the heart of Oettingen’s old town in Bavaria, Hotel Krone reopened in 2025 after a three-year extensive restoration led by the architecture firm Feulner und Häffner, specialists in the renovation of listed historic buildings and the preservation of Bavarian heritage.

The complete renovation of this historic building aimed to achieve several objectives:
• Provide a full, modern hotel experience without compromising the historic character of the buildings
• Create a cohesive identity between interior and exterior spaces
• Optimise the hotel’s professional functionality
• Integrate sustainable solutions suitable for a listed site

A tailored collaboration with Fermob

Fermob’s Contract team provided close support throughout the project. All exterior fittings were 3D modelled by our teams, allowing precise adjustments to volumes, colours, and uses. This work continued on-site through regular visits from the regional sales representative, who brought samples to validate materials and finishes.

Hans-Heinrich Häffner, from Feulner und Häffner, explains that « Fermob was chosen for the durability of its materials, the quality of its craftsmanship, and the many available colour combinations. The brand met our approach: respecting the historic building while making it suitable for intensive professional use »

Equipped spaces

The Biergarten – central area with 110 seats

An iconic area of the site that needed to remain true to the local identity. The choice naturally fell on the Luxembourg chair in Cactus, reflecting the spirit of Bavarian biergartens, paired with Bistro tables in Tonka. The Easy Open parasols add a practical touch with their telescopic mast and solution-dyed fabric.

The inner courtyard & terraces

The interior patio comes alive with warm hues, Red Ochre and Candied Orange, harmonising with the surrounding historic façades and the project’s natural materials.

Wellness area

In the indoor wellness zone, the sun loungers from the Rivage collection extend the soft, chic aesthetic of the interior design. Their lasting comfort perfectly aligns with the low-impact material approach valued by Feulner und Häffner.

Room balconies

All 30 hotel rooms feature balconies furnished with Resto D60 tables and Luxembourg chairs in Clay Grey, providing each guest with a private and welcoming outdoor space.

Hotel Krone thus emerges with a new premium identity, where heritage and contemporary design coexist with elegance. A project showcasing Fermob’s expertise in bespoke solutions for high-end hospitality.
