A taste of Italy at the Halles Paul Bocuse
A colourful terrace in the heart of the Halles Paul Bocuse
At the heart of Lyon’s iconic Halles Paul Bocuse, Lello brings a taste of Italy to every moment of the day, from morning coffee to aperitivo. Part restaurant, part deli and part gourmet grocery store, Lello is the creation of chef Antonello Cabras – known as “Lello” – whose specialities include Pasta Bianca, prepared in front of guests in a wheel of Parmesan matured for 24 months, and a tiramisu that was awarded third place at the Tiramisu World Cup in Milan in 2023.
Located opposite the main entrance to the Halles, Lello was completely redesigned in early 2026. With just 28 square metres to work with, the challenge was to create a space that was functional, inviting and instantly recognisable, bringing together a grocery store, deli and restaurant under one roof. Interior architect Carole Cardona led the complete transformation, overseeing the project from concept through to completion.
Hand-crafted mosaics, a wall mural, Italian tableware and vibrant colours come together in a generous setting that expresses Lello’s distinctive character. To carry this colourful identity through to the terrace and counter, Fermob furniture was the natural choice. With 28 seats on the terrace and four at the counter, the furniture adapts effortlessly to different moments throughout the day while meeting the demands of this particularly busy venue.
Comfortable, durable and easy to handle on a daily basis, the furniture also needed to be moved and stored regularly to comply with the Halles’ safety requirements. Parisienne 21, one of Fermob’s latest collections, takes centre stage on the terrace. A contemporary take on the iconic Parisian bistro chair, the collection stands out for its lightweight design, hand-woven detailing and Red Dot Award-winning credentials. Rest’O tables and Luxembourg bar chairs complete the setting, providing flexible solutions for the restaurant’s different uses, from terrace dining to counter seating.
“We needed furniture that was both comfortable and perfectly in tune with our project, with bright, appealing colours that reflect our identity.” Mathieu Cardona, Lello representative
When it comes to colour, the Miel finish of the Parisienne 21 chairs pairs beautifully with the Cactus tables from the Rest’O collection and Luxembourg high stools. Fresh and sun-filled, this combination catches the eye from the moment you arrive, while blending naturally into Lello’s colourful setting. Cactus echoes the green tones of the décor, while Miel brings a bright, warm touch to the terrace.
And the combination is already turning heads. “Some guests have even asked us whether we sell the furniture,” says Mathieu Cardona.
